Renewable Energy at Glastonbury Public Schools

Glastonbury High School, Nayaug Elementary School, Hebron Avenue Elementary School, and our school district's Bus Yard all have solar panels installed on their rooftops. This successful initiative, along with panels that are installed on other town buildings, saves our town over $100,000 each year in energy costs.

There is no cost for this project as grants from the state renewable energy program funded the installations. Also, the town entered into 20 year agreements with Solar City (now Tesla), the company that finances, designs, installs, monitors, and maintains our systems. We now pay a considerably reduced rate per kilowatt hour because of our solar capacity.
