Glastonbury High School students who succeed in UConn Early College Experience (ECE) courses earn high school and college credit at the same time. This program exposes our GHS students to more challenging college material in a familiar environment. Participating students also pay a fraction of the tuition it would cost to take the courses on a college campus.
We are proud that Glastonbury Public Schools offers students with over 20 different UConn ECE courses to choose from.
About 30 of our high school teachers are certified UConn instructors. They receive UConn sponsored professional learning , course coordination, and support to ensure the GHS ECE courses they teach are aligned with UConn 's expectations for teaching and learning.
Together, Glastonbury Public Schools and UConn's Neag School of Education are helping students learn and grow. Every year, UCONN students serve throughout our district as student-teachers and interns. As part of their undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs, UConn students observe classes, student teach, and collaborate on special projects. We provide them with valuable experiences that prepare them to be successful education professionals.
In return, our staff members and students benefit from the perspectives and talents of these terrific teachers-in-the-making. The special connection we have with the UConn Neag School of Education has always been an advantage to us in attracting and hiring quality educators.
In my 2 years working here, I have always felt supported and encouraged to be the best and most prepared teacher I can be. GlastonburY Public Schools has given me the confidence to be a leader in all spaces and never stops pushing me to my fullest potential as an educator and life-long learner.
