The Glastonbury Martin Luther King Community Initiative is sponsoring their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration on January 19th at 7 pm at Smith Middle School. This year's program focuses on the music of the civil rights movement and how that music has been an integral part of the American struggle for human rights and social equality.
The program will showcase the music of the movement in its historical context through performance, narration and multi-media presentations. Performers include a Windsor High Gospel Choir, the Naubuc School Early Bird Choir, the GHS Jazz Orchestra, GHS Madrigal singers, a hip hop artist, a folk singer, a vocalist, and interpretive dancers.
The program is free and open to the public. Those attending are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to benefit the Glastonbury Food Pantry. For more information, please see attached.
