The Glastonbury Town Council has extended their Budget Public Hearing and will meet again on next Tuesday, March 28 at 7 pm. At this meeting they will vote on the final education budget expense for next school year. The Town Council is currently considering reducing the Board of Education's approved budget by $3 million in response to Governor Malloy's proposed reduction in the Town's Education Cost Sharing grant. Our Board of Education Chair, Susan Karp, has requested the Town Council implement a mechanism to restore funding to the Board of Education budget if the state legislature votes a final state budget that does not cut our Education Cost Sharing so drastically.
